MODULAR SYSTEM WITH SAFETY LOCK FOR DRUMS OF
BLINDS
DESCRIPTION Object of the invention
The present invention relates to a modular system with safety lock for blinds drums which has the purpose of providing maximum safety in the assembly and maintenance operations of the blinds, and substantially facilitating the manufacture in workshop and the assembly on site of the blinds drums incorporating one or more torsion springs; where once a blind drum is mounted, the tensioned spring tends to turn said drum in a direction of rotation to wind the blind around said drum, so that the effort to raise the blind by a user is minimal thanks to the spring when stressed, it tends to wind the blind in a direction of rotation around said drum. Starting from this premise, the modular system of the invention is capable of blocking the rotation of the blind drum during the assembly, disassembly and maintenance of said drum and also during the assembly and maintenance of other parts of the blind assembly. Although the modular system of the invention is primarily applicable to industrial blinds, it is also generally applicable to any other type of blinds.
Technical problem to solve and background of the invention
At present, industrial blinds are known which generally comprise a succession of slats hooked together; where an extreme slat of the blind is anchored to a rotating drum coupled around a fixed axis; where said drum includes several wheels and crossbars that join the wheels together; and where at least one of said wheels is linked to a torsion spring, which is coupled around said fixed axle. A first end of the spring is anchored to one of the wheels, while another second end of the spring is anchored to the fixed axle.
Once the wheels with axial retention are placed on the fixed axle together with the spring or springs attached to respective wheels and fixed axle, this whole assembly is joined by the crossbars; leaving the described set ready for installation on site.

On site, the fixed axis is positioned and held by its extreme sections; proceeding to place and attach the blind in two lateral guides, usually vertical. In this way, a frontal opening is enabled for the blind deployed when it is lowered.
On the other hand, to tension the springs, the drum assembly formed by the wheels and crossbars is rotated around the fixed axis, so that the number of turns of said set of wheels and crossbars is conditioned by the weight of the blind. It should be noted that at present this described assembly process is very risky and extremely dangerous since there is no type of safety lock that blocks a possible recoil of the drum rotation during the assembly, disassembly and maintenance of the drum and in general the assembly of the blind, so that personal security is exclusively in the hands of the expertise and predictability that operators can provide.
As a consequence of the foregoing, the invention aims to solve the personal safety problems described, also simplifying the manufacture, assembly and maintenance of this type of drums associated with torsion springs.

immobilized to an end section of a fixed axis 2 of tubular structure, in which wheels 3, 3 ’are coupled with free rotation around said fixed axis 2; wherein said wheels 3, 3 'are retained in the axial direction of said fixed axle 2.
The wheels 3, 3 ’are connected to each other by means of crossbars 4 embedded in peripheral recesses 3a of the wheels 3, 3’; wherein said crossbars 4 are joined to the wheels 3, 3 'by means of screws 5a and nuts 5b, so that the set of wheels 3, 3' and crossbars 4 constitute a drum 6 of the blind (not shown in the figures); wherein said drum 6 is coupled around the fixed axle 2 through its wheels 3, 3 ’; and where the rotation of the drum 6 in a direction of rotation drags the blind to wind it around said drum 6 towards a folded position, while when the drum 6 rotates in the opposite direction, the blind is unwound towards a deployed position to cover a corresponding front space with a door, window or other similar hole.
A torsional spring 7 is coupled around the fixed axle 2, so that one end of the spring 7 is anchored to a main wheel 3 of the pair of wheels 3, 3 ', while another second end of the spring 7 is anchored to the fixed shaft 2.
To tension the spring 7, the drum 6 is rotated in a direction of rotation until the required tension is achieved according to the weight of the blind.
In this situation, when the blind is collected, it is wound around its drum 6 which comprises at least the wheels 3, 3 'and the crossbars 4, so that during the operation of collecting the blind, the tension of the spring 7 substantially helps to collect the blind.
In a first embodiment shown in Figures 1, 2, 3 and 6, the locking device 1 comprises a frame 8 fixed to the fixed axis 2; wherein said frame 8 includes a tower 8a and a window 8b that are joined by screws 9a and nuts 9b, so that the window 8b and the fixed shaft 2 have facing holes in which a first constitutive radial pin 10 is embedded of an axial positioning and retention element of the frame 8 with respect to the fixed axis 2.

removable and a supplementary anchoring mechanism 12 to be able to block the rotation of the drum 6 during the assembly operations of the blind assembly and also in maintenance work.
The main anchoring mechanism 11 is removable and comprises a support 13 that has a blind hole 13a where a main latch 14 is housed and guided against the resistance of a main spring 15 tending to move the main latch 14 outwardly, so that one end of said main latch 14 faces a first circumferential trajectory of the wheel 3 where a front teeth 3b is located.
During the tensioning operation of the main spring 7 in which the wheel 3 is rotated in a direction of rotation, the main latch 14 ensures that said wheel 3 does not reverse in a direction of rotation contrary to the direction of tensioning of the spring 7, so that in an extreme case if during the spring tensioning process 7 the wheel 3 is not held by an operator, said wheel 3 is immediately locked by anchoring the main latch 14 on the first tooth of the front teeth 3b closer to the end of said main latch 14; wherein said main latch 14 is continuously pushed against the front teeth of the wheel 3 by the main spring 15 towards an anchoring position.
It should be noted that the main latch 14 includes an inclined plane 14a that allows the wheel 3 to be rotated in a direction of rotation and locked in the opposite direction of rotation when the tension of the spring 7 tends to turn said wheel 3 in a direction of rotation.
The support 13 of the main anchoring mechanism 11 is embedded in a front recess
17 of frame 8; wherein said support 13 is fixed to the frame 8 by a guide pin
18 comprising: an upper bolt 18a that threads into a perforation of the support 13, an intermediate base 18b embedded within a through hole 19 of the frame 8, and a lower stud 18c housed within a through hole 21 of the frame 8 located by under through hole 19; wherein said lower stud 18c is pierced by a retaining pin 20.
The supplementary anchoring mechanism 12 of the locking device 1, is installed directly on the frame 8 and comprises a supplementary latch 22 housed and guided inside the through hole 21; wherein said supplementary latch 22 has an end facing a second circumferential trajectory of the wheel 3 which includes

a succession of front holes 3c, in one of which the end of the supplementary latch 22 can be fitted to block the rotation of the drum 6; where during this block the main anchoring mechanism 11 can be mounted and removed.
On the other hand, the supplementary latch 22 comprises a longitudinal axis 22a, a bowl-shaped front part 22b and an end push-button 22d; wherein said supplementary latch 22 is guided in a narrowing of the through hole 21 and in a rear piece 22c in the form of a bowl that is embedded within the through hole 21; and where the supplementary latch 22 is held in a rest position by a supplementary spring 24 that pushes the supplementary latch 22 towards the rest position in which it does not block the rotation of the drum 6.
In this situation, when the supplementary latch 22 is activated by manually pushing on its end button 22d against the resistance of the supplementary spring 24, the end of the longitudinal axis 22a exits outside the through hole 21 and is introduced in one of several seconds through holes 3c of the wheel 3 of the drum 6, so that by maintaining this position the main anchoring mechanism 11 can be mounted allowing the retaining pin 20 fixed to the guide pivot 18 can be inserted into the through hole 21 through the through hole 19 of the frame 8 leading to said through hole 21 where the supplementary latch 22 is guided.
Once the assembly of the main anchoring mechanism 11 is completed, in which the intermediate base 18b of the guide pivot 18 is fitted into the through hole 19 of the frame 8, it is stopped pushing on the supplementary latch 22 which will return to the rest position by the supplementary spring 24; where in this position the fixation of the main anchoring mechanism 11 is secured by means of the front part 22b in which a protruding portion of the retaining pin 20 fixed to the guide pin 18 is anchored.
In order to disassemble the main anchoring mechanism 11, it is basically done in the same way as for its assembly, so that by pressing and holding the supplementary latch 22 in the active position in which the end of its longitudinal axis 22a is inserted into one of the second holes 3c of the wheel 3, in this situation said main anchoring mechanism 11 is removed, since now the retaining pin 20 is not engaged in the previous piece 22b which is in an advanced position against the supplementary spring resistance 24.

In a second embodiment of the invention shown in Figures 4, 5 and 6, the locking device 1 'comprises a frame 8' equivalent to the frame 8 of the first embodiment; where said frame 8 'also includes in principle a tower 8a' and a window 8b 'which are connected by screws 9a and nuts 9b, so that the tower 8a', the window 8b 'and the fixed axis 2 have holes facing each other in which two radial pins 10, 10 'constituting positioning elements, axial retention and radial retention of the frame 8' with respect to the fixed axis 2 are embedded.
A detachable main anchoring mechanism 25 is coupled onto the frame 8 ’of the second embodiment of the invention, which is equivalent to the main anchoring mechanism 11 of the first embodiment; wherein the frame 8 'includes a blind hole 26 where a main latch 14 is housed and guided against the resistance of a main spring 28 tending to move this main latch 14 outward, so that one end of said main latch 14 it is faced with the front teeth 3b of the first circumferential trajectory of the wheel 3.
In this way, one of the teeth of said front teeth 3b is anchored in said main latch 14 when it is displaced outward in an active position. Said main latch 14 also includes an inclined plane 14a like that of the main latch 14 of the first embodiment; wherein said main latch 14 allows the rotation of the drum 6 in one direction, while in the opposite direction the blocking of the rotation of said drum 6 is maintained.
The bottom of said blind hole 26 comprises a removable end piece 29 fixed to the frame 8 'by means of front screws 30, so that by removing said end piece 29 the main anchoring mechanism 25 of the second embodiment of the invention can be disassembled.
In this second embodiment of the invention, a supplementary anchoring mechanism 31 is engaged on the window 8b 'comprising an axial screw 27 that threads on said window 8b' and faces the second circumferential path of the wheel 3 of the drum 6 for be able to block your turn; wherein said blocking is achieved by inserting one end of the axial screw 27 into one of the several front holes 3c located in

the second circumferential trajectory of the wheel 3 of the drum 6, so that the axial thyme 27 performs the same function as the supplementary latch 22 of the first embodiment, and the main anchoring mechanism 25 of the second embodiment performs the same function as the main anchoring mechanism 11 of the first embodiment.
On the other hand, the displacement of the main latch 14 of the second embodiment can be blocked by an upper screw 16 that threads into a through hole of the frame 8 ’; where a section of said upper screw 16 is inserted into the blind hole 26 in front of the main latch 14 preventing it from peeking out of the blind hole 14 located in the frame 8 ’.
In the two embodiments of the invention, the main latch 14 associated with the main spring 15, 28 together with the front teeth 3b of the wheel 3, all constitutes a device as a ratchet mechanism that allows the rotation of the drum 6 in a direction of rotation and in the other direction of rotation blocks the rotation of said drum 6.
In all embodiments of the invention, the drum 6 is axially retained with respect to the fixed axis 2: in one direction by the frame 8, 8 'on which at least the main wheel 3 of the pair of wheels 3, 3' stops. and in the other direction by means of an elongated pin 23 that crosses the fixed axis 2.
To be able to mount on the frame 8, 8 'the main anchoring mechanism 11, 25, the operator needs that the longitudinal axis 22a or axial screw 27 of the supplementary anchoring mechanism 12, 31 be inserted into one of the front holes 3c of the wheel 3; so that in this situation the wheel 3 remains locked. Once the assembly of the main mechanism 11, 25 is completed, the supplementary anchoring mechanism 12, 31 is unlocked; the wheel 3 being free but fixed by the main latch 14 of the main anchoring mechanism 11.25.
The mechanisms referred to in the previous paragraph, for assembly needs can be placed on the outside, to the right or left of the corresponding wheel 3 of the drum 6.
On the other hand, once the assembly, regulation or maintenance operation is finished, the main anchoring mechanism 11, 25 is removed because it is no longer necessary. This
The rotation of the drum 6 is completely free, there being no obstacle preventing its rotation and consequently of the manipulation of the blind connected to one of the crossbars 4 of the drum 6.
The system of the invention is a modular system; where the drum 6 can comprise a pair of wheels 3, 3 ’or several pairs of wheels 3, 3’; all this depending on the width of the hole to be covered by the blind; so that each pair of wheels 3, 3 'is associated with a torsion spring 7 having one end anchored to a main wheel 3 of that pair of wheels 3, 3' and the other end of the torsion spring 7 is anchored to the fixed shaft 2.
10
Thus, the modular system of the invention allows to act independently on each torsion-operated spring 7, which is a great advantage when it comes to giving rotational force to the entire drum assembly 6 and blinding around the fixed axis. 2.
15 It also facilitates automation, so that with the modular system we can act on the module where an engine is to be installed without affecting the other modules; all this in the case that several modules are installed.
